In 2002, perhaps ushering in the resurgence of the zombie subgenre, 28 Days Later was released to huge acclaim, a new take on the viral apocalypse featuring horrifyingly violent, lightning-fast infected individuals whose bites left only seconds until the infection manifested. Terrifying.
Five years later, in 2007, they released a second part: 28 Weeks Later , which followed the story of two brothers who, coincidentally, were in a camp in Spain at the time of the outbreak, and returned to Great Britain with their father when the situation was already under control, 28 weeks later.
The story featured a star-studded cast, including Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Idris Elba, and Robert Carlyle, who played the father.
