The US has already suspended visas for at least 30 Mexican politicians.

The US has already suspended visas for at least 30 Mexican politicians.

The first warnings were given by Joe Biden in 2023.

During his visit to Mexico in January of that year for a summit with Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Justin Trudeau , his team provided the first names.

Then Ambassador Ken Salazar insisted, but nothing.

Several officials in the Donald Trump era, especially Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem , have come forward with more information.

And of course, with more names of prominent Mexican officials for suspicious links to crime and activities punishable under U.S. law.

Washington hasn't stopped despite its insistence, and even Trump himself reacted by demanding an investigation into those named when Mexico handed over 29 drug traffickers to him on January 28.

It has been of no use.

That's why it has decided to leak part of the list and proceed through its various agencies with the first option at hand, and one that has great political repercussions: visa cancellation.

The first to be affected were the governor of Baja California, Morena's Marina del Pilar , and her husband Carlos Torres , whose official and political duties leave no doubt... even though he is promoted as an honorary official.

VISUAL ATTENTION AT 30

The operation is massive.

Homeland Security authorities have confirmed the cancellation of hundreds of visas for Mexicans, including at least 30 members of the federal, state, and municipal administrations.

The identities provided to Mexican media outlets refer to at least 44 individuals from all levels of government, including political party leaders.

None of them are outside the security cabinet, which includes the National Defense, Navy, Public Security and Citizen Protection, and the Attorney General's Office.

Why did the Mexican government of the first and second levels dismiss the allegations and complaints?

It is difficult to give a definitive answer because details are being hidden, including the visa suspensions for Marina del Pilar , Carlos Torres , and the mayor of Matamoros, Alberto Granados .

Here the fact is downplayed; the United States will maintain its refusal to provide reports as requested by the National Palace because of a legal provision of secrecy.

Neither Joe Biden responded during the previous six-year term to Andrés Manuel López Obrador 's claims regarding the alleged kidnapping of Ismael El Mayo Zambada by Joaquín Guzmán López , nor will Donald Trump respond to the current administration for what happened then and what happens now.

That is an exercise of sovereignty, not political harangue.

CRIMES OF ALL KINDS

As we reported yesterday, the operation will be dynamic.

Every day, there will be new actions by the United States to expose Mexico, such as the negotiations with the family of Ovidio Guzmán López in exchange for protection and prosecution of other Sinaloa Cartel bosses.

But not just to Mexico, but to other nations because, as we pointed out yesterday, there is cross-referencing of information between different agencies, and thousands and thousands of people from all over the world are being reviewed.

Yesterday, the scandal was about the possible revocation of Américo Villarreal's visa, and the government floated the story with a confusing statement: "This information has not been confirmed by any authority."

Crimes of all kinds are being investigated, from financial to narco-terrorism , human trafficking, illegal hydrocarbon trafficking, shipment of fentanyl and other drugs to the United States, bank accounts (again involving Marina del Pilar and Carlos Torres ), illegal entry into the country, and more.
