What positions will be up for election next Sunday, June 1, in Durango?

On June 1st, Durango residents will be able to renew the 39 municipalities that comprise the state and the 49 positions that make up the local judiciary.
In total, Durango citizens will be electing the following positions in the municipal elections: 39 Municipal Presidents, 39 Syndicates, and 327 Councilors.
The number of proportional representation council seats in the 39 municipalities of Durango is as follows:
• In the municipality of Durango, seventeen councillorships; (17)
• In the municipalities of Gómez Palacio and Lerdo fifteen councillorships; (15)
• In the municipalities of Canatlán, Cuencamé, Guadalupe Victoria, Mapimí, Mezquital, Nombre de Dios, Nuevo Ideal, Poanas, Pueblo Nuevo, San Dimas, Santiago Papasquiaro, Tamazula, Tlahualilo and Vicente Guerrero nine council seats; (9)
• In the municipalities of Canelas, Coneto de Comonfort, General Simon Bolivar, Guanacevi, Hidalgo, Inde, Nazas, Ocampo, Otaez, Panuco de Coronado, Penon Blanco, Rodeo, San Bernardo, San Juan de Guadalupe, San Juan del Rio, San Luis de Cordero, San Pedro del Gallo, Santa Clara, Santa Maria del Oro, Suchil, Tepehuanes and Topia, seven councilors. Regarding the election of the Local Judiciary, the positions to be elected are the following:
• 15 Magistrates of the Superior Court of Justice
• 5 Magistrates of the Judicial Disciplinary Court
• 1 Magistrate of the Criminal Court for Adolescents
• 28 Judges
A total of 49 positions in the Local Judiciary.
With the aim of giving citizens the most elements to make a reasoned and informed vote, The Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of the State of Durango has launched platforms where it is possible to learn about the electoral ballots, proposals, profiles, and careers of those running for office.
In this way, Durango residents will have four ballots for the partial renewal of the Local Judiciary, and one ballot to elect the city council in each of the 39 municipalities.
