Who is the woman who insulted a Mexico City police officer?

This weekend, a video captured on the streets of Mexico City's Condesa neighborhood sparked a wave of outrage on social media.

In it, a woman racially insults a traffic officer who was trying to place an immobilizer on her—the well-known "spider"—for having her vehicle parked improperly and without paying the parking meter.

The woman, identified by internet users as Ximena Pichel, verbally attacks the police officer, saying things like, "I hate black people like you, I hate you because you're nacos." The scene, recorded by witnesses, clearly shows an episode of aggression and discrimination.

Who is Ximena Pichel, "Lady Racist"?

The video quickly went viral, generating thousands of disapproving comments. On social media, the attacker was dubbed "Racist Lady," and users began sharing information about her identity.

Although authorities have not officially confirmed her identity, many point to her as an Argentine-Mexican woman who presents herself on social media as a model, actress, and singer , with alleged collaborations in advertising campaigns and work with TV Azteca.

Following the controversy, their social media profiles were made private.

What would be the possible sanctions for Lady Racist?

The Mexico City Council to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination (COPRED) also joined the public condemnation of the events that occurred in the Condesa neighborhood.

In an informational bulletin, the agency strongly condemned the discriminatory remarks, stating that the comments "hurt the officer's dignity because of the color of his skin and his alleged socioeconomic status."

"The expressions expressed by women constitute a form of symbolic violence that reproduces structural racism and reinforces historical inequalities that persist in our society," COPRED warned, while emphasizing that these types of attacks not only offend the individual, but also weaken the rule of law.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security reported that it has already opened an investigation into the incident. At the time of the violation, the woman claimed to be ill, which prevented immediate punishment. However, the widely circulated videos have prompted a review of the case.

To date, no administrative or criminal sanctions have been announced against Ximena Pichel. However, the case remains under public and legal scrutiny.

In Mexico City, acts of racism and discrimination can be reported to COPRED and, depending on their severity and context, could also result in legal consequences if it is proven that the insults occurred in the context of aggression toward public officials.
