Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has surpassed $53 million (approximately €45 million) in prize money after adding the five million he pocketed for his victory on Sunday at the US Open.

The US Open opted to increase the prize money this year and awarded that amount to the winner, considerably raising the figure of 3.6 million it set in 2024 - then won by Italian Jannik Sinner, the rival Alcaraz defeated this Sunday in the final 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 and 6-4.

The young Murcian tennis player, who at 22 is the number 1 in the ATP rankings and has already won 23 professional titles (he made his debut in this field in 2020), six of them Grand Slam titles, has accumulated $53,486,628.

In 2025, there will be 15,631,652, according to data released by the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP).

The rivalry with Sinner, also in terms of earnings, leans toward Alcaraz, despite the San Cándido native being a year and ten months older. Jannik, who has won 20 trophies on the circuit, including four in the major category, has pocketed $48,779,987 to date—$11,535,053 this season.

Carlos, who emerged victorious in his head-to-head with his great rival on the circuit—10 wins to 5 for the El Palmar native and a 5-2 victory in finals—has quickly established himself among the super-elite of world tennis. His finances reflect this consolidation, and when compared to the three greatest in the history of tennis, he comes out well, although, logically, far from the numbers of Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal, and Roger Federer.

The tennis player with the most earnings by results is Serbian Novak Djokovic, still active at 38 years old. The Belgrade native has accumulated $190,194,053, with $4,660,133 since January. Spaniard Rafa Nadal and Swiss Roger Federer, both now retired, have earned $134,946,100 and $130,594,339 in prize money throughout their respective careers.

Djokovic is in his 23rd season on the tour since 2003, Nadal was there for 24th from 2001 to 2024, and Federer for 25th from 1997 to 2021, while Carlos Alcaraz has been there for five years. EFE
