Central Bank recertifies in security management

The Governor of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD), Héctor Valdez Albizu, received the certificate certifying that the institution successfully completed the recertification process in Information Security Management under the ISO 27001:2022 standard, extending its scope to the administration process of the Real-Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS).

Valdez Albizu stated that "this is yet another achievement that attests to the constant efforts the BCRD has made since 2012 to mitigate risks and contribute to strengthening cybersecurity in the region."

He considered that this provides Dominicans with "an information security management system in the financial and payment sectors that meets the highest international standards , placing them in a favorable position to face the challenges arising from emerging threats."

Montserrat Aguilar, representative of the Norwegian-based international certification body, Der Norske Veritas (DNV), stated that "this certification validates that the Central Bank complies with the guidelines established in the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard."

This certification, he indicated, demonstrates "the ongoing effort to maintain the Dominican Republic within the highest standards of self-defense against the risks and contingencies that arise from information management."

This way, the institution remains constantly evolving, in compliance with the most advanced regulations and standards in cybersecurity and information security .

The preparatory activities for the external audit carried out by DNV were coordinated by the Cyber ​​and Information Security Department , with the collaboration of various departments of the Central Bank .

To receive the certificate , the governor was accompanied by the manager, Ervin Novas Bello; the director of the Payment Systems Department, Ángel González Tejada; the director of the Treasury Department, José Gabriel Perdomo López; and the director of the Cyber ​​and Information Security Department , Ruddy Simons Llauger.
