How are wheat producer bond payments going?

How are wheat producer bond payments going?

Irapuato , Guanajuato.- The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has been making insurance guarantee payments to wheat producers, but 113 producers are still pending payments . These have been paid gradually because their accounts were inactive.

Justino Arriaga Rojas , SADER delegate in Guanajuato, mentioned that of the 2,371 that were eligible for payment, 2,258 had already been paid, as of June 15.

There are 113 outstanding payments, mainly due to producers' inactive accounts. We've been addressing these in recent days. There are still a few outstanding payments, but most of the outstanding payments have also been made," he said.

He commented that they are awaiting the operational dynamics for the Guaranteed Price program for Basic Food Products , in addition to the fact that the guaranteed price is 7,600 pesos for small producers and 7,050 pesos per ton for medium-sized producers.

"We're waiting for the operational mechanism from the Secretariat's central offices to be able to disseminate it and keep producers informed, so right now we're still waiting," he indicated.

He reported that the payment gap is due to the change in administration at the federal level, so he hopes the same won't happen this year.

Abel Muñoz Bravo , president of the State Wheat Product System , commented that the Guaranteed Price for Basic Food Products program is managed by SADER and comes from the defunct Segalmex . They had a registry of 2,934 producers, and of these, in the system, 2,424 were positive, and 410 producer files were negative or under observation.

"Here, on May 30th, a significant amount was deposited into the State. On that date, we estimated, based on the surveys we conducted, that 50% of the positive cases were paid that day, plus the 10% that had already been paid; in total, they accounted for 60% of the producers in the state of Guanajuato, so we were missing 40%, a situation that contradicts the Federal Government: They claim they have paid 1,994 and that only 26 producers remain to be paid," he indicated.

However, he stated that their producers' numbers do not match those of SADER, so there is a clear delay in payments to Guanajuato producers.

He explained that the first payment was made in November and the second on May 30 of this year, so there is a delay of almost a year.
