Javier Milei's Government celebrates a milestone in meat exports after 100 years

Argentina surpassed the barrier of 900 thousand tons equivalent to bone-in beef (Tn EqRc/H) in beef exports and reached a total of 935,261 tons during 2024, marking a milestone since the historical record of 981 thousand tons reached in 1924. The news was highlighted by the national government.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, the growth recorded in 2024 represents an increase of 10% in volume and 9% in value compared to 2023, despite a slight decrease of 1% in average prices per ton (USD/TnEqRc/H). In addition, of last year's production, 3,178 thousand tons of bone-in beef, 29.4% were destined for export.
Exports included chilled and frozen cuts, as well as processed products, destined for 53 international markets , 11 more than the previous year. The main destinations include China, the European Union (EU), Israel, the United States and Chile, which increased their purchases by percentages ranging from 2% (China) to 45% (United States). In addition, emerging markets such as Mexico, Canada and Malaysia also showed significant growth.
China accounts for 70% of Argentine beef exports.
In chilled cuts, which increased by 9% in volume (TnEqRc/H), the additional demands from Chile, Mexico and the EU stood out, adding additional purchases of 9,200 tons of product weight (Tn PP). These products, which include Angosto Bife, Ancho Bife, Lomo and Corazón de Rump, reached values above USD 10,000 per ton, with an average increase of 4% in prices per ton.
For its part, exports of frozen cuts grew 10% in volume, with notable sales to the United States (over quota), China, Israel, Canada, the EU, Mexico and Malaysia, with an increase of 7% in value due to a drop in prices (USD/Tn EqRcH) in this category of 3%.
However, beef exports in 2025 began to decline. In January, they reached a volume close to 46.2 thousand tons of product weight, for a value of around 227.7 million dollars. Compared to December 2024, the volumes shipped show a significant drop, 20%; while the value obtained shows a more moderate decline, of 11.1%. This was indicated in its latest report by the ABC Exporters Consortium.
