Louis Vuitton Hong Kong is investigating a data breach affecting 419,000 customers.

The personal information of approximately 419,000 customers of Louis Vuitton's local subsidiary in Hong Kong has been compromised, according to an investigation by Hong Kong authorities, Efe reports.
According to a statement issued Monday by the Office of the Personal Data Privacy Commissioner of Hong Kong, the company reported the incident on July 17, after its headquarters in France detected suspicious activity in its IT system on June 13.
Later, on July 2, the company discovered that its customer information in Hong Kong had been compromised.
Preliminary information gathered so far indicates that the compromised personal data includes names, passport numbers, dates of birth, physical and email addresses, telephone numbers, purchasing history, and product preferences, according to the agency of the former British colony, a popular luxury shopping destination due to its low taxes.
The Office noted that its investigation follows established procedures, including those related to the possible delay in reporting the incident by the luxury goods company.
The agency reminded companies that, in the event of incidents of this nature, they must inform the authorities so that appropriate measures can be taken and potential consequences mitigated for both the organizations and the individuals affected.
He also reiterated the importance of promptly informing those affected of any information leak that could pose a risk to their privacy.
