He tries to kill his wife with hammer blows while she sleeps in Mallorca and faces 14 years in prison for it

A 51-year-old man faces 14 years in prison for trying to murder his wife by hitting her on the head with a hammer after waiting for her to fall asleep, according to information published by Última Hora .

The events occurred on January 29, 2024, at a home located on Bernat Amer Street in Palma de Mallorca. The couple's daughter was not at home, as she had gone to live temporarily with other relatives, and the woman was occupying her daughter's room at that time.

Serious injuries The victim had to be admitted to hospital, where he underwent several operations.

According to the prosecution, that night the woman went to bed and the man hit his partner on the head with an iron hammer on at least five occasions. He did so after making sure that she was asleep, so when he hit her, the victim woke up unable to defend herself and began to scream.

After the attack, the accused called emergency teams to treat the woman, who was taken to the hospital, where she was admitted until February 9, 2024. According to the aforementioned media, the woman had serious injuries: a sunken skull, fractures to her hands and nose, among other injuries. For this reason, she had to undergo several operations.

For these facts, the Prosecutor's Office is now asking for a 14-year prison sentence for this man, who is accused of attempted murder. In addition, compensation of 77,694 euros is also being requested for the victim due to the injuries, after-effects and physical and moral damage caused.

According to Última Hora , in May 2023, the woman told the accused that she wanted to end the relationship. Despite the breakup, they both continued to live together in the same house. However, it was from then on that the man, who did not accept his partner's wishes, began to control where she went out, who she met with and who she spoke to on the phone. The aim would have been to try to find out if she was in a new relationship.
