A young Spaniard from Melilla dies in a shooting in Jerusalem.

The incident occurred a few minutes after 10:00 a.m. local time on Yigal Yadin Street, at the Ramot junction, north of the city, when two attackers opened fire on a bus stop near two Israeli settlements.
According to Israeli media, the attackers allegedly boarded a bus and opened fire on the passengers. Following the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is assessing the situation with security officials.
The Israeli emergency service MDA says three of the dead at the scene of the attack, including Pinto, were men in their 30s and another in his 50s. The deceased Spaniard, who had just married, died at the scene along with two other young men in their 30s , as well as a woman in her 50s who was taken to hospital in critical condition, and another died at another hospital.
Jacob Pinto, a 25-year-old Spaniard born in Melilla , is one of at least six victims of the attack perpetrated this Monday against a bus at a crossing at one of the entrances to the city of Jerusalem, according to sources from the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE) confirmed to Europa Press. The deceased was part of the Jewish community of Melilla and had moved there a few years ago to study at a Talmudic university school.
The incident occurred a few minutes after 10:00 a.m. local time on Yigal Yadin Street, at the Ramot junction, north of the city, when two attackers opened fire, the MDA reported. The two people who opened fire on civilians at a Jerusalem bus stop are two Palestinian citizens, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar reported from Hungary, both of whom were "neutralized."
The Israeli Police have indicated in a statement on their social media account X that the two "terrorists" involved in the attack on the bus have been "neutralized" by a member of the security forces and an armed civilian "present in the area." "Sappers are clearing the site and gathering evidence," they stated, before confirming a "large" security deployment in the area.
The Israeli army announced the deployment of soldiers to the area of the attack and also to the outskirts of the West Bank capital, Ramallah, "to combat terrorism."
"The injured were lying on the street and sidewalk near a bus stop, some unconscious," an MDA paramedic said in a statement, while another said there was "widespread destruction, broken glass on the ground, and great commotion."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu , speaking from the scene of the attack, stressed that the country "is in a massive war against terrorism on all fronts" and promised a security response to the attack, according to The Times of Israel.
"Sadly, the war continues in Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria—the biblical name for the West Bank—where we have acted with great force," he noted. "The Shin Bet and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have prevented hundreds (of attacks), and the police have also disrupted hundreds this year, but unfortunately not today," he lamented.
In this context, Israeli President Isaac Herzog emphasized that this is "a painful and difficult morning" and lamented that "innocent civilians, women, men, and children, have been brutally murdered in cold blood and injured on a bus at the hands of evil and vile terrorists."
"In the face of this barbarity, we saw extraordinary acts of heroism that prevented further loss of innocent life. This shocking attack reminds us once again that we are fighting an absolute evil. The world must understand what we are up against and that terrorism will never defeat us," he concluded on his X account.
The Foreign Minister, speaking from Hungary, stated that the "horrible terrorist attack" had left six dead and stressed that the country "is at war with radical Islamic terrorism," before adding that "Europe and the international community, all countries, must make a clear choice: either they are on the side of Israel or they are on the side of the jihadists ."
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has applauded the "heroic operation" carried out by "two Palestinian resistance fighters ." "We affirm that this operation is a natural response to the crimes of the occupation and the war of extermination it is waging against our people," it stated.
In this regard, the Islamist group has warned that this attack "sends a clear message that the plans (announced by the Israeli government) to occupy and destroy Gaza City and desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque—located on the Temple Mount—will not go unpunished," according to the Palestinian newspaper 'Filastin'.
Islamic Jihad also praised this "high-quality operation by two resistance fighters" and emphasized that it is "a natural response to the escalation of the Israeli entity's criminal policies." "We regret the deaths of those responsible for the operation and praise their heroism. We call on our people in Palestine to increase their response to the crimes of the Israeli Army," it added, referring to Israel.
An ultimatum to Hamas: "Release the hostages and lay down your weapons or Gaza will be destroyed."
Also this morning, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued an ultimatum to Hamas, assuring them that if they do not release all the hostages and disarm, he will "destroy Gaza" and "annihilate" them all.
"This is a final warning to the Hamas murderers and rapists in Gaza and in luxury hotels abroad: Free the hostages and lay down your weapons, or Gaza will be destroyed and you will be annihilated ," Katz wrote on his X account.
If the Palestinian group does not accept his conditions, the defense minister warned: "Today, a powerful hurricane-sized storm will hit the skies of Gaza City and the rooftops of the terror towers will shake ."
"The Israeli army is continuing as planned and preparing to expand the maneuver to defeat Gaza," he concluded, referring to the plan approved this summer for the occupation of Gaza City with the expulsion of all its residents.
Minister Katz's threat came after US President Donald Trump yesterday also issued a "final warning" to the Islamists, assuring them that "there will be no more."
The Palestinian group, for its part, said early this morning it was willing to "immediately" negotiate an agreement that would release all the hostages in exchange for an end to the Israeli offensive.
"We have received, through mediators, some ideas from the United States for reaching a ceasefire agreement. Accordingly, Hamas welcomes any step that will assist the efforts to stop the aggression against our people and affirms its readiness to sit down immediately at the negotiating table," he stated.
However, he reiterated that the agreement must guarantee the definitive end of the offensive and the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave, two conditions that Israel has so far refused to accept.
He also referred again to the proposal drawn up by the mediators (Egypt, Qatar, and the United States), which the Islamist group accepted on August 18, insisting that Benjamin Netanyahu's government has yet to respond.
