US military libraries to remove books on diversity

The Pentagon has ordered all U.S. military organizations to review the reading materials in their libraries. Books on topics such as diversity, anti-racism and transgender issues are "incompatible with the core mission of the department" and must be removed.
Librarians are given a list of search terms like “anti-racism,” “gender transition,” and “DEI,” which stands for diversity, inclusion, and equity, to identify “educational materials that are divisive and promote gender ideology.”
It is the broadest and most detailed directive yet in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's campaign to strip the military of diversity and equity programs, policies and training materials.
Distance from diversityThe Ministry of Defence has distanced itself from all previously established initiatives to promote diversity.
It had previously removed numerous documents and images from its own website, such as articles about black pioneers from American military history.
