31-year-old Maria died in a plane crash. Her wife is devastated.

A small Beechcraft B200 Super King Air crashed last Sunday in Southend, Essex, southeast England. Four people were on board, including a doctor and a nurse, both German citizens. They died at the scene.

What is known about the 31-year-old and 46-year-old? British and German media have released new information. The cause of the crash is still under investigation (experts from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are still investigating the scene).

Bild newspaper reported that the 46-year-old was an emergency room doctor. Matthias lived in Rhineland-Palatinate (a state in southwest Germany). He had a nine-year-old son, whom he left behind.

The next victim is a 31-year-old nurse, a specialist in anesthesiology, born in Chile, writes Sky News. It was Maria's first day in her new role as a member of the air ambulance team. That day, the crew landed in London Southend to deliver a patient. After completing this mission, they were soon to begin their return journey to the Netherlands. In 2024, the young woman married her partner, who was heartbroken by the news of her death.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy

Essex Police issued a statement regarding the incident. "We are working closely with the AAIB and other agencies to establish the circumstances of this incident. We ask residents to avoid the area so that emergency services can conduct their operations safely," they said.

London Southend Airport also weighed in on Platform X. "We can confirm that there was a serious incident at Southend Airport this afternoon involving a general aviation aircraft," the statement read.
