Blood donors at Jasna Góra

The pilgrimage began with a blood drive in the ambulance of the Regional Blood Donation and Treatment Center in Katowice, stationed in front of the Jasna Góra Monastery. A solemn Mass was then celebrated. The homily was delivered by the National Chaplain for Honorary Blood Donors, Reverend Canon Colonel Zenon Surma, who organized the event.
[middle1]This year marks the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the first Institute of Blood Collection and Transfusion. It was established at the initiative of the Polish Red Cross. On this occasion, the Polish Red Cross, together with the National Blood Center, designated 2025 as the "90th Anniversary of Polish Blood Donation." The national chaplain for honorary blood donors expressed gratitude to all who have selflessly shared "a drop of their lives" with others over these 90 years, and at the same time prayed that they never be left behind.
It's a service– It is worth emphasizing that blood donation is an activity inextricably linked to service, that is, service to human health. Blood is a truly great gift for those affected by misfortune. It saves lives, and for us – honorary donors – it gives us the satisfaction of being able to share a part of ourselves with those in danger of losing their lives. In every community, caring for the sick has always had its source in love of neighbor. In reference to the motto of the pilgrimage, Honorary Blood Donors
