Drama in Chełmno. A car rammed people on the sidewalk. Footage released

"The perpetrator of the accident is from Chełmno, he knew the market square well. He was driving against traffic, perhaps that's why he was driving on the sidewalk to avoid colliding with other vehicles," we read in the description of the video on the "Road Bandits" profile.

A serious accident occurred in the center of Chełmno, on Rynek Street. On Friday, July 11, around 2:40 PM, a Mitsubishi driver drove against traffic and struck two groups of people on the sidewalk. Four people were injured, including three children. All received first aid.

According to police findings, the driver of an SUV struck three people on Rynek Street: a 40-year-old man and a woman with a child. The man was uninjured, while the woman and child were taken to hospital for treatment.

As he continued driving against traffic on Hallera Street, he struck three more people – a 45-year-old woman and her two daughters, ages 11 and 13. The woman was uninjured. The girls were taken to hospital. The 11-year-old was transported by ambulance, while the 13-year-old was transported by air ambulance helicopter.

The driver only stopped after hitting the stairs. The car overturned. Police pulled the man from the vehicle. He was not injured. The driver was arrested and taken to the police station. The driver, a 56-year-old man, was sober.

A video of a group of people being hit by a car has surfaced online. It was posted on the "Road Bandits" profile.
