Former directors of State Forests detained. CBA action

Three former directors of the State Forests were detained by the CBA on Tuesday morning - the National Prosecutor's Office confirmed to Polsat News. They are to be questioned today.

This morning, the services arrested three former directors of the State Forests. They are Józef K., former director general, Michał C., former director of the State Forests Information Center, and Andrzej Sz., former director of the Szczecin directorate.

As TVN24 reported, this concerns the case of Dariusz Matecki , a PiS MP, who was allegedly fictitiously employed by the State Forests.

Information about the action was confirmed by Jacek Dobrzyński, press spokesman for the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration and the Minister - Member of the Council of Ministers Coordinator of Special Services.

"At the request of the National Prosecutor's Office, CBA agents detained three former directors of the State Forests this morning: the general director, the director of the information center and the former director of the regional directorate in Szczecin. The men were detained in the Silesian, Łódź and West Pomeranian Voivodeships. After completing the procedural activities, the detainees will be transported to the National Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw," he reported on the X platform.

In October 2024, the State Forests filed a notice to the prosecutor's office regarding Dariusz Matecki. The PiS MP was employed on May 18, 2020 as a communications specialist in the Social Communication Team in the Communication Department of the State Forests Information Center (CILP). In accordance with the concluded contract, he was employed full-time, and the place of work was indicated as the CILP headquarters in Warsaw.

After an audit conducted in 2024, it turned out that Dariusz Matecki did not perform the duties assigned to his position. He did not appear at the CILP headquarters, and witnesses testified that they did not see any activity from him.

"After the contract with the State Forests Information Centre ended, Mr Matecki was employed at the Regional Directorate of the State Forests in Szczecin, where, despite the concluded contract, he did not perform any work for the employer, as demonstrated by an inspection carried out there," the State Forests said in a press release.

The notification to the prosecutor's office concerned the conclusion of contracts and Dariusz Matecki's acceptance of remuneration in both positions. This led to the State Treasury losing over PLN 320,000.

Józef K. was dismissed from his position in October 2024.
