Grzegorz Braun's Sister on His Scandalous Words: "He Lost Sensitivity and Fact-Finding"

Grzegorz Braun's Sister on His Scandalous Words: "He Lost Sensitivity and Fact-Finding"

The politician's sister began her remarks by recalling the memory of 20-year-old Grzegorz, who, in 1987, watched with great emotion Claude Lanzmann's banned film "Shoah" in Poland. "What has happened to him since then? I feel as if he has completely lost his sensitivity and capacity for compassion. And also his grasp of facts – he was a well-read man who knew history," she stated.

Monika Braun on Grzegorz's words: The word "brother" no longer connects us

She thus commented on her brother's statement for Radio Wnet, in which he stated that "ritual murder is a fact, while, say, Auschwitz with its gas chambers is a fake." "I usually find words to assess Grzegorz's public activity; I've already expressed criticism on this topic, but on this matter, I'm struggling to form an opinion. Because there are no good words that can express what happened in Jedwabne and what was said on the radio," she emphasized.

– And when I say that “my brother, Grzegorz, did it,” I think that the word “brother” is beautiful, but in this dimension it no longer connects us – continued Monika Braun, mentioning her friendships with Jews and her personal experience of the horror of the Holocaust.

"If such a vast area of culture and millions of my neighbors disappeared, not just materially, I would like to at least protect their memory. And to tell those still alive that I am with them, not with their persecutors. When I began to learn the history of the Holocaust, I was touched by the horrors my brother now denies. The immense suffering that none of us can truly imagine," she emphasized.

"If this moves me so deeply, it's not only because we are connected by blood and because I know, or rather, knew, this boy once—but because such words in anyone's mouth should be immediately condemned, and such actions curtailed," she added. "I hope the state will finally find ways to prevent this from happening again," she emphasized.

Grzegorz Braun's sister on the "staging of villainy"

Monika Braun emphasized that her brother's work on the Polish political scene is, in her opinion, pure evil. "He's delving deeper and deeper, pushing boundaries, and believes he has a specific kind of legitimacy to expand his staged wickedness. I look at this with horror, because Grzegorz is now a promoter of evil, expanding his electorate through this method," she said.

"It integrates a group of people who glorify violence, who derive joy from hating and humiliating others, from slandering what others value. We saw how effective this is in the last election," she noted. "And this is an evil that should finally be addressed, within our legal system," she reiterated.

"Because this evil (not only the recent statement, but also the fire extinguisher incident, the destruction of exhibitions, the attack on the doctor in Oleśnica, and others) breeds more evil, permits people to spit on people with impunity, humiliate them, and be aggressive," she explained. "The first evil becomes a model for subsequent displays of vileness. We know this from history," she concluded bitterly.
