Marcin was beaten near Wawel Castle. Prosecutor's Office reveals new facts
The attack occurred late in the evening on June 2nd at Na Groblach Square, almost at the foot of Wawel Castle. Marcin was spending time that day with Artur K., Łukasz N., and their partners. According to investigators, the five had been drinking alcohol outdoors, and when it started to rain, they moved to a shelter near the elevator leading to the underground parking garage.
An argument ended in a beating. The victim was beaten until he was unconscious.According to information provided by a spokeswoman for the Krakow prosecutor's office, cited by TVN24, an argument broke out around 9:30 p.m. Marcin allegedly punched the common-law wife of one of the men in the face. In response, Artur K. and Łukasz N. attacked him. They beat him unconscious, then took his shoes and left him without assistance.
Marcin was transported to the hospital, where he died on June 8. The cause of death was serious craniocerebral injuries, including extensive subdural hemorrhage.
Police arrested the suspects on July 10. The men were charged with participating in a fatal assault and robbery. One of them will be held on re-offender terms. Both were remanded in custody.
They gave different versions of events.During the hearings, Artur K. and Łukasz N. presented conflicting versions of events. As prosecutor Oliwia Bożek-Michalec told TVN24, Łukasz N. pleaded guilty and indicated that Artur K. was the instigator of the attack. Artur K., in turn, claims that Łukasz N. was the sole perpetrator.
The prosecutor's office also questioned the partners of both men. According to investigators, the women were present at the time of the attack and did not provide aid to the victim. They have not yet been charged, but, as the prosecutor's office notes, "the issue of their liability for failing to provide aid is being considered."
