Open letter to the residents of Wyszatyce – Żurawica Commune

Ladies and Gentlemen, On Sunday, June 29, we had the pleasure of meeting you during an information meeting devoted to the possibility of locating a wind farm investment in Wyszatyce. For us, as an investor, it was an important event not only from the perspective of the project, but above all, as an expression of common concern for the future of the commune, its residents and the environment that unites us all.
We would like to thank each person who decided to come, listen, ask questions and – most importantly – form their own opinion. Meetings like the one in Wyszatyce only make sense when accompanied by mutual respect, openness to conversation and a desire to understand the other side. It was precisely such an atmosphere – despite the differences – that was largely achieved. We are pleased that even in such a difficult and emotional discussion it was possible to find space for a conversation based on mutual respect.
We know that the topic of wind energy arouses emotions. This is natural. After all, we are talking about a change that directly affects the place where you live. During the meeting in Wyszatyce, many questions were asked, some very specific, others resulting from concerns that are present in the public space today. We approach each of these statements with respect, because each of them tells us something important about what is important to you here. For this reason, we would like to answer the questions that were asked most often during the meeting:
Are you planning to use old, used turbines from abroad? No. The project is based solely on modern, new turbines that meet all applicable standards. Using turbines from dismantling would be irrational – both economically and environmentally.
Is the investment calculated to generate profit for foreign companies? No. We are a Polish company employing Polish specialists, developing projects in Poland and operating in accordance with Polish law. We cooperate with local subcontractors, and the latest amendment to the act provides that Residents whose homes are located within 1,000 m of a wind farm would receive additional funds - up to PLN 20,000 per year. This amount may be charged for each megawatt of the turbine installed in the vicinity of the house. In addition, the wind farm investor will be obliged to offer at least 10% of the installed capacity of the turbines to the residents of the commune on the basis of a virtual prosumer at prices resulting from the construction costs.
Can turbine foundations contaminate water and soil? There is no such risk. We use safe materials, compliant with regulations. Everything is done under the control of institutions such as RDOŚ, Sanepid and Polish Waters.
Do turbines harm birds? Before an environmental decision is made, annual ornithological monitoring is conducted. Turbine locations are selected so that they do not interfere with migration routes and habitats. The risk of collision with a turbine is many times lower than with a window pane or a vehicle.
Do turbines affect human or animal health? This issue has been studied many times. The Polish Academy of Sciences states unequivocally: there is no evidence of harmful effects of turbines on health. The infrasound that causes concern is naturally present in the environment - for example, in coastal wind - and is no different from that emitted by wind turbines. There is also no data confirming a negative effect on neuroatypical people or animals.
We believe that mutual respect builds understanding. We are aware that many opinions circulate in the public space, including very critical ones. Some of them may result from fear, anxiety about the future, the need to protect what is close and known. This is natural and deserves to be heard – not judged. We are ready for further conversation. We believe that each commune has the right to decide about its future based on reliable information. And our role – as a partner – is to provide this information and support you in making decisions.
Thank you for the conversation, for your questions and for being here.
With respect, Res Global Investment Team www.resglobalinvestment.com
