In the latest SW Research poll for Onet, Poles were asked to name the president who best served in office. Aleksander Kwaśniewski outclassed the competition , winning 39.1% of the vote.

Poles voted for the best president. Kwaśniewski's gigantic lead

Lech Kaczyński came in second with 15.4 percent, while Andrzej Duda came in third with 15 percent of respondents. Lech Wałęsa (6.9 percent) and Bronisław Komorowski (4.3 percent) followed. 19.3 percent of respondents had no opinion on the matter.

The study was conducted on July 29-30, 2025, by SW Research using online interviews (CAWI—Computer-Assisted Web Interview) on the SW Panel website. The study involved 805 surveys with a nationwide sample of adults. Quota sampling was used, ensuring the sample was representative in terms of the overall distribution of gender, age, and town-size class.
This is Kwaśniewski's "secret." Expert: There's a lot of truth in this saying.

A few months ago, the same poll was conducted for "Wprost." The results, in terms of the order of presidents, were identical. " They say that Aleksander Kwaśniewski was the president of all Poles . And there's a lot of truth in this saying, because even though Kwaśniewski came from the post-communist camp, he was able to transcend traditional and historical divisions," commented Dr. Bartosz Rydliński at the time.

"It's not without reason that Barbara Labuda, a Solidarity activist, was a key figure in his office. In the politics of awards, he also recognized the competing sides of political disputes. In the 1990s and early 2000s, for many Poles, he was the only constant figure, as prime ministers changed, while Aleksander Kwaśniewski remained in office," added the political scientist from Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University and co-founder of the Ignacy Daszyński Center.

"His presidency came at an extremely interesting time politically. Kwaśniewski not only became a co-creator of the Polish Constitution, signing it and organizing the referendum on it, but he is also associated with two of the most important projects that still influence Poland's security and prosperity today: joining NATO and the EU," the expert emphasized.
