Pope Francis Still in Hospital. New News About His Health
The health of Pope Francis, who was admitted to Rome's Gemelli hospital on February 14, has improved somewhat. The Holy Father "rested well throughout the night," the Vatican's Press Office reported, which is a positive sign. Despite this, the Vatican is toning down the mood and emphasizing that the prognosis for further treatment is still cautious.
The Pope was admitted to the clinic because of bronchitis and pneumonia, and during tests, mild kidney failure was also detected. Now the situation seems to be stabilizing.
— "The kidney problems are no longer as serious and the results of some laboratory tests show improvement," the Vatican said in a statement.
The Holy Father is still receiving oxygen therapy, but, as doctors point out, the flow and level of oxygen have been slightly reduced, which may indicate an improvement in his health.
The Pope does not stop workingDespite his illness, Pope Francis is not slowing down. On Monday morning, he received the Holy Eucharist, and in the afternoon he returned to his duties. He not only worked with documents, but also made an important phone call.
The Holy Father called the parish priest of the Holy Family in Gaza to "express his fatherly closeness to the people there," Vatican News reported. This was in response to a moving video that the parish's residents sent to the Pope. Francis thanked them for the gesture, assuring them of his prayers.
Pope grateful for prayersAlthough the Pope's health has raised serious concerns, doctors emphasize that "prognosis remains cautious, given the complexity of the clinical picture." The coming days will show whether the improvement will continue.
The faithful from all over the world gather not only in St. Peter's Square, but also in front of the Gemelli Clinic, showing support and unity in prayer for the Pope's health.
