Temporary border controls with Germany are back on Monday
Prime Minister Donald Tusk is reintroducing temporary control on our border with Germany. The decision will come into effect on Monday. This move was demanded by the right-wing opposition, which criticizes the government for its inaction towards the Germans, who are transferring migrants to the Polish side.
Donald Tusk: "Patronising Bąkiewicz is unacceptable"
- I warned the German side back in March, I talked about it several times with the new chancellor. I said that such a patient position of Poland after Germany introduced unilateral controls is exhausted after the change in practice, which means that the lack of controls on the Polish side of the border means that people who were to be sent back to Poland should be kept there - the prime minister stated.
At the same time, Donald Tusk criticized the "citizen patrols" at the border trying to oppose the return of migrants to Poland.
- I want to say it very clearly: it is shameful and scandalous for politicians - including the future president - to insult and distance themselves from state services such as the Border Guard. Taking on the role of a "patron" over Mr. Bąkiewicz's right-wing "activists" who are disorganizing the work of the Border Guard - these are unacceptable things. I would expect politicians - regardless of their position - to always help the Border Guard, the army and the police - said the prime minister.
