The atmosphere may be thick. Trzaskowski and Nawrocki will appear at the same event

Presidential candidates Rafał Trzaskowski from KO and Karol Nawrocki supported by PiS will participate in the same event – the European Congress of Local Governments in Mikołajki – PAP has established in both parties. It is not known whether the two candidates will meet.
The 10th edition of the European Congress of Local Governments will take place on Monday and Tuesday in Mikołajki in Masuria. Tuesday's congress will feature meetings with five presidential candidates.
"We invited the top five in the polls," Paweł Piszczek, director of the promotion office of the Institute for Eastern Studies Foundation, told PAP. This foundation is the main organizer of the event, supported by, among others, the local government of the Warmian-Masurian province and the city and commune of Mikołajki.
The candidates invited to the event are: KO candidate Rafał Trzaskowski, Karol Nawrocki supported by PiS, the Left candidate Magdalena Biejat, the Confederation candidate Sławomir Mentzen and the Third Way candidate Szymon Hołownia. Piszczek informed PAP that only Magdalena Biejat has confirmed her participation to the organizers so far.
According to information from PAP, both Trzaskowski and Nawrocki will appear at the congress. "This will be their first meeting, it will be interesting to see how it goes," one of the PiS MPs, who is organizing Nawrocki's visit, told PAP. The candidate supported by PiS will go from Mikołajki to meet with the residents of Ełk. This meeting was reported on social media on Tuesday.
"Nawrocki is not timid, he will be happy to talk to Trzaskowski. And he will not mind that Trzaskowski will be among his colleagues," added a local PiS politician from Mazury.
PO politicians from Warmia and Mazury confirmed to PAP that Trzaskowski would be present in Mikołajki. "Rafał Trzaskowski is a local government official. This is an event he cannot miss," the PO politician from Mazury told PAP. For now, there is no information about Trzaskowski having any other meetings apart from the congress.
Paweł Piszczek told PAP that the organizers do not plan a debate of the presidential candidates. "Each of them will get a stage for half an hour, a journalist will talk to them. If one of the invited candidates wants to listen to another's speech, they will be able to, but I don't know if such busy people will have time for that," he said and emphasized that neither Nawrocki's nor Trzaskowski's campaign staff have confirmed the presence of their candidates in Mikołajki.
The European Congress of Local Governments is advertised as "a platform for the exchange of views and a place where local government leaders, representatives of regional elites, members of the state administration, non-governmental organizations and business will meet."
The programme of this year's congress, which will take place on 3-4 March, includes over 250 events, including panel discussions, workshops, lectures and presentations.
The Congress debates will cover issues of contemporary urban planning, mechanisms of city and regional development, investment financing, city management, environmental protection, health policy and the activities of local governments in the new reality.
The announced keynote speakers include Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Krzysztof Bosak, Secretaries of State in the following ministries: Climate and Environment – Urszula Zielińska, Agriculture and Rural Development – Stefan Krajewski, National Education – Henryk Kiepura, former Prime Minister Leszek Miller, former Commander of the Land Forces Waldemar Skrzypczak.
