The Chinese are finishing off the Polish furniture industry
The furniture industry, one of the export pillars of the Polish economy, is gasping for breath. In two years, the value of furniture production has fallen by PLN 3 billion, last year exports dropped by 6 percent, and employment is shrinking. Debts are growing: according to an unpublished report by the National Debt Register (KRD), obtained by "Rzeczpospolita", the sector's unpaid debt amounts to almost PLN 130 million. In addition, there is the growing debt of wood producers, which has already exceeded PLN 100 million. According to KRD analysts, this may be a signal of growing financial difficulties in the entire supply chain.
