There's a lack of funding for documentation. What's next for the school's thermal modernization?

There's a lack of funding for documentation. What's next for the school's thermal modernization?

Recently, the school in Masłów, even though it only has a handful of children, received a new name. Mayor Marek Długozima said that the village community reportedly wanted the school to be named after Leonhard David Hermann. The choice of patron saint was met with considerable controversy during the council meeting. Opposition councilors questioned whether this was truly a good choice. Were there no other distinguished individuals who could be honored with this distinction? The mayor said it was the residents' wish. He declined to reveal who suggested the name.

Meanwhile, there were rumors that the school would be closed due to the low student population. When the matter became public, the mayor changed his mind. Interestingly, the municipality began renovating the building. The roof was recently repaired. And, as the mayor announced, the building's thermal modernization will begin soon. The problem is that financial constraints may hinder these plans.

The municipality has just opened bids for the thermal modernization project, and it turns out there isn't enough money in the budget. As reported, the municipality has set aside PLN 80,764.20 for this purpose. Only one bid was received. This came from BRH Zakład Budownictwa Henryk Bereżecki from Wrocław, which offered to complete the project for almost twice that amount: PLN 158,670!

Although the bids were opened on September 10th, the tender results are still not listed on the website. The mayor needs to find additional funds, which isn't easy, as the municipality is heavily indebted. The debt now stands at approximately 107 million złoty!

As a reminder, bids for the construction of the Orlik sports arena in Nowy Dwór were opened in June. The mayor has yet to award a tender and will likely have to return the 1.5 million złoty subsidy!

Let us recall that the cheapest offer was around PLN 3.5 million , and the commune secured only… PLN 80,000 for this purpose.

"Dear residents, it's time to dispel any illusions about the true financial state of our municipality ," said councilor Sławomir Ćwikła at the time, recalling another issue: "The loss of PLN 2 million in funding for the thermal modernization of historic municipal buildings due to a lack of PLN 1 million in own contribution. There is a high risk of losing the PLN 1.5 million subsidy for the construction of the "Orlik" sports complex in Nowy Dwór," he wrote, claiming that the tender was a complete hoax. The municipality has recently been experiencing significant financial difficulties. After losing the lawsuit, it paid approximately PLN 6.5 million to the National Water Management Authority (KOWR). The money is tight, so it's resorting to loans and canceling some of the planned investments. As a result, it's losing the subsidies. To sign the contract, Marek Długozima would have to find additional funds in the budget. What will the mayor do? We don't know. For now, he's even withholding information about whether the Orlik tender will be successful.

His archaeological research on Töppelberg Hill in Masłów, where he discovered approximately 10,000 urns, constituted one of the first systematic archaeological studies in Silesia. He described the results of these studies in his 1711 work "Maslographia," which is considered the first monograph on an archaeological site in Silesia. Hermann also authored numerous natural and historical works. In 1725, he became a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. His archaeological collections were stored in various places, including the National Museum in Wrocław.
