They attacked a councilor's child! Scandal in Dubiecko. A councilor's child on the autism spectrum is a tool in a political game.
The vote of approval session concluded successfully for the mayor of the city and commune of Dubiecko, Jacek Grzegorzak, who received both a vote of confidence and a vote of approval from the councilors. It seemed this was the most important item on the agenda of this distinguished group from the Dubiecko commune. Unfortunately... the most important—or rather, the worst—was yet to come.
"It wasn't the first time, but it was the first time they attacked my child. It all started when I dared to run for mayor in the last local elections in 2024. I ran because I was and still am the village head of Śliwnica and I'd seen how the city and commune functioned over the years. I didn't agree with this kind of local politics. This wasn't how I imagined local government authorities operating. I spoke out loud about the connections and cronyism. I wanted to change that. During the campaign, there was a terrible smear campaign against me. They were never able to discuss the merits, and instead attacked me and my private life. It damaged my reputation as a woman, to put it mildly..."
– said councilor Barbara Sawkiewicz.
She ran in the 2024 local elections for mayor of the city and commune of Dubiecko. At the time, she held no political affiliation, representing the "Postawmy na Kobiecą Gospodarność" (Focus on Women's Economy) Electoral Committee. She received 888 votes. She was one of three candidates. The winner, the current mayor, was re-elected for a second term, with 2,201 votes.
"Right after the elections, which the current team won, I thought the persecution would end. I became a councilor and remained the village head, so I had to work for the residents of the commune. But that didn't happen. The attacks intensified. It's hard for me to list them all now. They sent various inspections against me, especially regarding the controversial septic tank on my property, which can only be accessed through a terribly neglected neighboring property owned by the mayor's brother. They sent the Social Insurance Institution and the tax office after me, nitpicking about my business activities. There are so many more to list."

– When they noticed that it wasn't working, that I wasn't letting anyone spit on me, that I was defending myself through legal means, they hit my child!
– she added.
B. Sawkiewicz is a member of two council committees: for complaints, motions and petitions, and for education, culture and social affairs...
