Tusk spoke before Nawrocki's swearing-in. Clear message

"As prime minister, I have worked with three presidents so far. With Lech Kaczyński, cohabitation was difficult but not hostile, with Bronisław Komorowski friendly but demanding, and with Andrzej Duda uncomplicated and very predictable. What about the fourth? We'll manage," Donald Tusk wrote on social media.

Karol Nawrocki will be sworn in as president on Wednesday, January 6th. A United Surveys poll for the Polish Army (WP) shows that only 21.4% of Poles believe the president will "definitely" or "rather" cooperate well with Tusk's government. A total of 62.1% of respondents answered "no." 16.5% of respondents chose the "don't know/hard to say" option. Interestingly, PiS and Confederation voters are more likely to believe in cooperation than those of the current ruling coalition.

Karol Nawrocki is sworn in as president. What will cooperation with the government look like?

Gazeta Wyborcza, in turn, cites Nawrocki, who considers Tusk the worst prime minister since 1989. However, the president adds that on "the most important matters, they must mend their relations." A senior coalition politician commented that both sides distrust each other and "expect the worst from each other." The nomination of Sławomir Cenckiewicz to head the National Security Bureau (BBN) was allegedly perceived as a provocation.

The historian, who headed the PiS commission investigating Russian influence in Tusk's government, recommended banning the Civic Platform (PO) leader from holding public office. Onet, in turn, reports that "there is a belief within the ruling camp that the new president will quickly confront the government." A senior Civic Platform (KO) politician admitted that the coalition "is not counting on a positive surprise." However, Tusk emphasized during the cabinet reshuffle that if Nawrocki expressed a willingness to cooperate, the ruling camp would react "with complete openness."
