Director General of the State Forests dismissed from his position

Witold Koss was appointed to this position on January 10, 2024 by Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloski and replaced Józef Kubica.
As stated in the press release, the minister personally thanked him for managing the work of the General Directorate of State Forests for eighteen months.
Witold Koss has headed the Regional Directorate of the State Forests in Szczecin since 2008. After leaving the directorate in 2015, he became a forester in the Skwierzyna Forest District.
The State Forests National Forest Holding is a state entity without legal personality that has been operating in this form since 1992. It manages forests covering an area of approximately 7.13 million hectares on behalf of the State Treasury.
The State Forests are responsible for regulating timber harvesting, which accounts for 96% of the raw material available in Poland. They manage land and other properties related to forestry.
They employ approximately 25,000 people, 90% of whom are forest district employees.

Journalist, graduate of political science at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University. Associated with the media for over 40 years. Since December 2021, he has joined the PTWP Group and works for the WNP.PL portal. His main professional interests include economics and politics at the global level and the participation of Polish business in this field, particularly companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Winner of the "Ostra Pióra" award, granted for "spreading economic education" by the BCC, as well as the Golden Pear - a journalistic award of the Małopolska Branch of the Association of Journalists of the Republic of Poland.
