Minister Domański wants to keep companies in Poland. "It drives me crazy."

"We need to build a strong ecosystem in Poland. It drives me crazy when I see Polish companies moving abroad because there's no capital in Poland," said Andrzej Domański, praising the idea of Personal Investment Accounts. He also commented on Karol Nawrocki's recent comments in "Gość Wydarzeń." "The government's role is not to fulfill the president's gifts," he said.
Andrzej Domański , commenting on Karol Nawrocki's statements regarding his legislative initiative, said: "I wonder who is suggesting these proposals to the president. Because these are proposals for the wealthiest, (...) for example, the idea of personal income tax exemption for families with two or more children , that would cost PLN 30 billion," the Minister of Finance and Economy calculated.
In his opinion, "almost all of the profits from this solution would go to the top 20 percent of earners." "Such a cost is a significant amount. This is not the kind of policy we want to pursue, " he noted, adding in an interview with Marcin Fijołek that he was "surprised by such proposals."
What about electricity prices and wind turbines? Domański: I'm surprised by the veto announcements. The minister told Wednesday's "Gość Wydarzeń" that he would prefer to wait for Nawrocki to submit specific projects before making detailed calculations. " It is not the government's role to fulfill the president's gifts , especially those directed at the wealthiest," he said.
Domański is also surprised by the "announcements regarding a veto" regarding the law on electricity prices and wind farms , because - in his opinion - "thanks to onshore wind energy, energy prices for millions of Poles will go down."
Nawrocki, among other initiatives, also proposed a draft amendment to the Personal Income Tax Act . It proposes raising the tax threshold from PLN 120,000 to PLN 140,000. He also promised to introduce a number of other changes, including reducing VAT to 22% , simplifying taxes, and indexing pensions.

The moderator asked the Minister about proposals regarding Personal Investment Accounts (PIAs) . These would enable investing without capital gains tax (the so-called Belka tax ). Assets accumulated in PIAs up to PLN 100,000 would be tax-free, with the surplus subject to asset tax, which – according to Ministry of Finance estimates – would be approximately 0.8-0.9%.
"From the very beginning, we've been talking about reducing the Belka tax . The draft law on the OKI fulfills that promise," Domański said. He added that thanks to this, anyone who wants to invest 100,000 will be able to do so.

He said that "it's also about providing capital for growth ." "We need to build a strong ecosystem in Poland. It drives me crazy when I see Polish companies moving abroad because there's no capital in Poland ," he emphasized.
" The OKI account is based on best practices . It has proven successful in Sweden. 40% of adult citizens use it there," he explained. The minister said he would encourage everyone to invest this way. "Of course, I will use such an account myself," he declared.
Domański estimated that he would like to receive between 60 and 100 million złoty in the first three years of the program. "Then I will consider the program to be well-received. This will also allow this effect to serve as a stimulus for the economy," he added.
Banking Sector Tax: "Work Announced"The Minister was asked about the introduction of a tax on extraordinary profits in the banking sector , which has been proposed by some politicians.
"I announced the work currently underway at the Ministry of Finance on a tax that would be borne by the banking sector. (...) We will inform you in the coming days and weeks about the solution we are currently working on at the Ministry of Finance," he said.
He added that the regulations proposed by the Ministry of Finance assume the imposition of "a certain additional amount of tax on the banking sector."
"We know that the banking sector is currently generating very high profits. These profits are the result of the National Bank of Poland maintaining high interest rates , (...) which is why they are generating profits that simply wouldn't have occurred with lower interest rates," Domański emphasized.
