Trump vs. Homeless People: "They Need to Get Out of Washington Immediately"

US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the homeless must "immediately" move out of Washington, D.C., to a location far from the city. Trump also announced the lockup of all criminals in the capital.
Trump thus announced what he intends to announce during a press conference on security planned for Monday in the capital.
"I will make our Capital City safer and more beautiful than ever before. The homeless need to move out NOW. We will provide you with a place to sleep, but AWAY from the Capital," Trump wrote on his own website, Truth Social. He added that criminals don't have to move because they will all be jailed and there will be no more leniency for them.
“We want to RENEW our Capital,” Trump said.
This is yet another statement from the president, who has previously repeatedly threatened to take federal control of city government and crack down on crime and homelessness.

Homelessness has been a visible problem on the streets of the U.S. capital and other major cities for years, and Trump has repeatedly complained about the sight of tents and homeless encampments in the capital's parks and on sidewalks. In late July, he signed an ordinance on homelessness, which aims to help city officials remove homeless people from the streets. The ordinance states that its goal is to "end vagrancy and restore order" in American cities. Among other things, the document provides for referrals to treatment facilities for people with mental illness or substance abuse.
Trump also complained about crime in Washington, even though police statistics suggest there has been a more than 35 percent drop in violent crime over the past year, with the current level being the lowest in 30 years.
