PLN 500 million for clinics and hospitals affected by the flood

The list of the government's legislative and programmatic works includes the assumptions of the draft resolution of the Council of Ministers on the allocation of funds from the Medical Fund for the implementation of tasks related to removing the effects of floods.

The adoption of the resolution will enable the conclusion of targeted subsidy agreements with entities establishing medical facilities affected by the flood or with entities conducting medical activities, for the purpose of addressing the effects of the flood. The government will allocate PLN 500 million from the Medical Fund for this purpose.

This refers, of course, to the flood that caused massive damage to private and public property in southern Poland in September 2024. Clinics and hospitals were flooded, and documents and equipment were destroyed.

The government explains that "a number of additional legal solutions have been adopted to provide support to both natural persons and legal entities, as well as other entities that have suffered material losses as a result of flooding."

According to the project assumptions, the beneficiaries of funds from the Medical Fund will be:

  • entities establishing medical entities affected by the effects of flooding, if the targeted subsidy is to be allocated to removing the effects of flooding, if these effects affected the medical entity,
  • entities performing medical activities that were affected by the effects of the flood

- if they submit an application for support.

The signing of an agreement providing subsidies for this purpose will enable the commencement of investments related to the removal of flood effects in medical centers.

Following an assessment of the needs of entities affected by last year's flood, a decision was made that the Medical Fund funds planned in the resolution should be allocated entirely to the tasks specified in Articles 40j and 40q, Section 3c of the Act on Special Measures Related to Flood Relief. The amount of support was set at PLN 500 million.
