Iconic Action Movie Gets Third Part? They're Calling It the Best Movie of the Decade

Gareth Evans’ 2011 film Raid has been hailed by some as “the best action film of the last decade.” After helming the sequel, Evans moved on to other projects, including Netflix’s Chaos . Now, he’s revealed he’s ready to make another film with Raid star Iko Uwais, an Indonesian.

The protagonist of "Raid" is Rama, played by Iko Uwais . He is a member of a counter-terrorist group storming a multi-story building that is the headquarters of a drug cartel. When members of the SWAT team are killed, it is Rama who is tasked with capturing the cartel leader.

Three years after the premiere of The Raid, its sequel hit theaters, and Gareth Evans, originally from Wales, confirmed his status as one of the most interesting directors of action cinema in recent years. With his newfound fame, Evans had opportunities to work on projects he could never have dreamed of before. One of them was the series Gangs of London , and recently the feature film Chaos debuted on Netflix. Plans for a third part of The Raid were put on hold until Evans finally announced that he was abandoning them for good.

Never say never - one would like to say in this case. During the promotion of "Chaos", Evans confessed in an interview with "Entertainment Weekly" that he had changed his mind and might take on the creation of "Raid 3" in the future. He was inspired to do so by meeting Uwais after years.

" We'll see what happens. That's my answer without any commitment, " Evans said. "I had an idea for a third part that would take place right after the end of the second part, but I got involved in other projects and I finally decided that the ending of the second part suited me as the end of the series. Years have passed and I couldn't do the idea that I had. I recently met with Iko Uwais, who I consider my younger brother, after a seven-year break. I was struck by how much he's grown up and how many new experiences he's had. And there's definitely a chance to open closed doors again. I definitely have an idea. If it's not Raid 3, we'll do another movie together anyway."
