The President of the European Council announced a video conference of European leaders on Wednesday morning, ahead of a special summit scheduled for March 6.

“To prepare for the Extraordinary European Council on 6 March, I am organising a video conference of EU Council members on Wednesday to hear from President Emmanuel Macron about his recent visit to Washington DC,” António Costa wrote on social media on Tuesday.
It is recalled that last Sunday, Costa announced that he would call a special meeting of European leaders next week to discuss the security of Ukraine and Europe.
French President Emmanuel Macron met with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday to ask for security guarantees for Ukraine. The previous week, Trump questioned US involvement in the conflict and called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator without elections”.
As can be seen from the American press, the meeting between the two presidents was cordial, but none of the points that divide Europe and the United States in relation to Ukraine were overcome.
