Below 10ºC: weather remains freezing in São Paulo until Friday

Temperatures in the state of São Paulo are expected to remain cold this week. Minimum temperatures will vary between 6°C and 14°C in various regions of the state.

According to data released by the Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo, based on analyses by the CGE (Emergency Management Center), the phenomenon is caused by the permanence of a cold air mass over the state of São Paulo.

The lowest temperatures expected are:

• Mantiqueira Mountains, Ribeira Valley and Itapeva Region: 6°C
• Paraiba Valley, Sorocaba, Campinas, Bauru and Araraquara: 8°C
• Metropolitan Region of the Capital, Presidente Prudente and Marília: 9°C
• Barretos, Franca and Ribeirao Preto: 10°C
• Araçatuba and Sao Jose do Rio Preto: 11°C
• Baixada Santista and North Coast: 14°C

Civil Defense warns of the need for special attention to the most vulnerable populations, such as the elderly, children, people with health problems and homeless people, who are more susceptible to the effects of intense cold.

Low temperatures are expected to continue at least until Friday (11).
