Desportivo de Chaves on Celta de Vigo's shopping list

The trend of buying Portuguese football clubs could be entering a new phase. After the owner of Paris Saint-Germain acquired more than 20% of Sporting Clube de Braga, a group of investors including Brazilian player Vinicius Jr. bought a controlling stake in Alverca and Moreirense is in negotiations for a possible sale to a North American investor, the possibility of Celta de Vigo acquiring Grupo Desportivo de Chaves is now open.
According to the Bloomberg agency, which cites sources with knowledge of the matter, the Spanish club is considering moving forward with the purchase of a Portuguese team , with Chaves appearing on the Galician club's list of possibilities.
Celta are looking for a club in the north of Portugal, close to Vigo, and among the various options they are considering is Grupo Desportivo de Chaves, a historic club in Portuguese football that currently plays in the second division. The Spanish club plays in the top flight and is controlled by the Mourino family. The same sources added, however, that the analysis is ongoing, and it is not yet certain that the transaction will happen. An official source from Celta de Vigo confirmed that the club is considering options, but no negotiations have been concluded. Meanwhile, the president of Grupo Desportivo de Chaves SAD, Francisco Carvalho, told the agency that there have been no negotiations with Celta de Vigo .
If the deal goes ahead, it will be another step in the growing interest of foreign investors in Portuguese clubs, who see cheaper investment opportunities in Portuguese clubs than in clubs from the main European leagues.
