Francisco Guimarães, PS candidate for local government

“It is with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment that I accepted this candidacy as an independent on the Socialist Party lists for the presidency of the Municipal Council of Mogadouro. Therefore, the action of this candidacy is based on pillars such as: economic growth, job creation, population retention”, said the candidate.
Francisco Guimarães was already mayor for two terms, having been elected in 2013 and 2017. He ended up losing the council to the social democrat António Pimentel, in the last local elections, in 2021. He is currently one of the two opposition councillors.
One of the objectives of his candidacy is to “make the municipality of Mogadouro more dynamic, attractive, sustainable and free. The focus will be on promoting local entrepreneurship, strengthening agriculture and livestock farming, supporting youth, entrepreneurs and the senior population of the municipality”.
The candidacy will still be ratified by the district and national structure of the PS.
At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and local journalism. Access to most of VTM's news is (still) free, but it is not free of charge. Journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way of directly supporting A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our contribution is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It is continuing to inform despite all the contingencies of confinement, without having stopped for a single day.
