João Almeida 6th in the stage is in 8th overall

In the fourth stage of this year's Tour de France, João Almeida climbed seven more places and is currently in 8th place overall, but more than that, the work of the cyclist from Caldas was remarkable, as he showed himself to be in good form when working towards the victory of the leader of his team, UAE Emirates XRG Sprint, the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar.

Faced with a final attack from Jorgensen, it was João who responded and brought Pogacar to victory, the hundredth in his career and which earned the cyclist from A-dos-Francos praise from the greatest figure in world cycling.

João Almeida is now 55 seconds behind the yellow jersey, the overall leader, who remains with Van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck). “Pogi”, who is the big favourite for the final victory, is in second with the same time as the winner and eight seconds ahead of his main rival, Jonas Vingegaard, from Visma Lease a Bike, who is also fourth overall, Jorgensen.

Tomorrow is the day of the individual time trial, with 33 kilometers, in Caen.
