Lagoa begins replacing the Algarve Clube Atlântico – Praia do Carvoeiro distribution pipeline

Lagoa begins replacing the Algarve Clube Atlântico – Praia do Carvoeiro distribution pipeline

The municipality of Lagoa has begun work to replace the existing distribution pipeline between the Algarve Clube Atlântico development and Largo da Praia do Carvoeiro, covering a total of 7.5 kilometers, as well as replacing 398 water branches connected to the pipeline to be replaced.

The objective of this project is to improve the municipality's water distribution system in an area and on a pipeline where water breaks are frequent, thereby reducing water losses and improving the quality of life for residents in that area. The old asbestos-cement pipeline will be replaced by a new cast-iron pipeline. Replacing this pipeline will allow the municipality of Lagoa to repave the roads in the area.

The project is expected to last 9 months and began on a small section/branch between Estrada da Faria and Estrada do Farol (M530), a work front that will last approximately 30 days.

Replacing the distribution pipeline in this area will allow for the completion of the complete repaving of Estrada da Faria, which was suspended a few weeks ago.

After the replacement of the pipeline branch on Estrada da Faria is completed, the work front will be moved to the Algarve Clube Atlântico development, to begin replacing the pipeline from east to west. The work front is expected to arrive at Praia do Carvoeiro only during the winter, since the project will end in March 2026 and the town of Praia do Carvoeiro will be the last area to be intervened.

In this way, the municipality of Lagoa continues to implement the 1st phase of reformulation and optimization of the municipality's water distribution system, as provided for in the Tactical Infrastructure Asset Management Plan of the municipality of Lagoa.

This project is 100% financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), as the municipality of Lagoa prepared and submitted an application for this available fund, which was approved.

Work on the Lagoa – Estômbar – Calvário adductor is complete

The project to replace the Lagoa – Estômbar – Calvário pipeline, one of the main pipelines in the water distribution network of the municipality of Lagoa, has been completed.

The municipality completed the work, the main objective of which was to improve the distribution system, reducing ruptures and water losses, as well as reducing energy costs, making the hydraulic system more efficient.

Started over a year ago, this project has replaced approximately five kilometers of deteriorated pipelines, replaced several water mains, and improved the distribution network, as water is now distributed by gravity in the Estômbar area.

In addition to replacing the water main, the municipality of Lagoa paved the section of road between the Aquatic Park and Mexilhoeira da Carregação.

This intervention was carried out as part of the 1st phase of the reformulation and optimization of the Lagoa Municipality's water supply system, where, in addition to replacing the Lagoa – Estômbar – Calvário water supply pipeline, the Municipality of Lagoa has already replaced the Cerca da Lapa – Sesmarias water supply pipeline and the Cerca da Lapa – Moinhos/Vale de Milho water supply pipeline.
