Mota-Engil with profits of 123 million in 2024, an increase of 8%

The Mota-Engil Construction Group presented its annual results on the CMVM website after midnight. Net profit rose 8% to 123 million euros.
The order book amounts to 15.6 billion euros, up 21% compared to December 2023, with 8 billion awarded . In Portugal, the order book amounted to 928 million euros, representing an increase of 57%, mainly due to the new Hospital Lisboa Oriental. Angola, Mexico and Nigeria then accounted for 21 % , 20 % and 13 % , respectively , of the E&C order book .
Turnover rose 7% to 5,951 million euros and EBITDA amounted to 955 million, which represents an increase of 14%.
The group's net debt in December amounted to 1.732 billion euros, which represented 1.81 times EBITDA. But if we include leasing, factoring and confirming , the debt amounts to 2.982 billion euros, 3.12 times EBITDA. The group says that the EBITDA margin reached 16 % driven by the Engineering & Construction segment .
Africa was the region that showed the best performance, driven by E &C and Industrial Engineering , the latter of which made a significant contribution to turnover and profitability .
The figures were also helped by the capital gains resulting from the focus on core markets ( sale of assets in Poland ) and the ongoing asset rotation policy ( monetization of two road concessions in Mexico ) .
In terms of investment, the group reported €511 million, of which 76% was in Industrial Engineering, EGF (environment and waste management ) and growth. In detail, E &C Growth and long - term contracts account for 65 % of total investment , mainly related to equipment for Industrial Engineering projects awarded in 2024 ( Africa E &C accounts for 63 % of total investment ) .
The group recalls the investment in Africa mainly related to the long - term projects underway in Mozambique , Ivory Coast and Senegal, as well as three new Industrial Engineering contracts signed at the end of 2024 .
E & C maintenance investment was around 1 % of E & C turnover , the lowest level ever , as a result of process optimization in equipment management and procurement .
The Environment segment contributed with 74 million euros.
Operating cash flow rose by 37 million to 725 million euros in one year. The Mota-Engil Group also reports equity of 849 million euros, which raises the ratio to assets to 11%.
