National skateboarding elite debuts new Portimão track

Between the 25th and 27th of July, the Parque da Juventude de Portimão will host the second stage of the Liga Pro Skate (LPS) 2025 National Skate Championship, jointly organized by Portimão City Council and the Portuguese Skating Federation.

The event will also mark the inauguration of the new skateboarding structure at Parque da Juventude, reinforcing the municipality's commitment to promoting sport and youth, integrating Portimão into the national calendar of the sport.

The second stage of the 2025 Pro Skate League will bring together more than 150 national and international athletes, who will compete in amateur and professional categories, male and female, in Street and Park disciplines. National titles will be up for grabs by age group, as well as spots on the National Team for qualification to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The program includes several notable events, including the National Amateur League (Street), aimed at athletes residing in Portugal; the Pro Skate Series League (professional, Open format) for national and international athletes; the Master Series, for those over 30 years of age, also mixed and open; and the Adapted Skate League, aimed at athletes with disabilities, in an international and mixed format.

Registration to participate is open until July 24th. It is free and must be completed through the competition's official website at liveheats.com/events/373343/registration . Athletes must be previously registered with the Portuguese Skating Federation.

The venue opens its doors on July 25th at 10:30 a.m., with Street practice starting at 11:00 a.m. Qualifying for the women's Pro Street and Pro Series categories will take place in the afternoon, scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Men's qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m., and the day concludes with presentations for the Master Elite and Adapted Skate categories at 7:10 p.m.

On July 26th, the venue opens at 9:00 am, with the Street Amateur qualifiers taking place from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. In the afternoon, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, the finals for this category will take place. Next comes the Park Series qualifiers, with the women's races scheduled for 6:10 pm and the men's from 7:10 pm to 8:00 pm.

On the 27th, the last day of the competition, the Men's Pro semi-final kicks off at 10:00 am. In the afternoon, the Women's Park Series (1:30 pm) and Men's Park Series (2:45 pm) finals will take place, followed by the Women's Pro Series (4:00 pm) and Men's Park Series (5:55 pm) finals. The official awards ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

"The growth of skateboarding in Portugal has been remarkable. This circuit represents more than competition: it's the affirmation of a sports project with Olympic ambitions," says Paulo Ribeiro, coordinator of the Skate Committee of the Portuguese Skating Federation.

The Liga Pro Skate festival is approved and recognized by World Skate, the international skateboarding federation, and is the most anticipated competition of the year for skaters worldwide. The event is sponsored by Go Chill and supported by Red Bull, Hot Wheels, Bana Skateshop, Águas do Alardo, Delta Cafés, and R.Sk8, as well as media partners Fuel TV, Surge Skateboard, and Skate.Freek.
