An Australian couple traveling from Melbourne, Australia, to Venice, Italy, had a terrifying experience during a long-haul flight. During the flight, a woman died unexpectedly, and the couple were forced to spend about four hours next to the body of the passenger as the plane made its way to Doha, Qatar, where they were scheduled to make a stopover.
How did it happen?The incident took place on a Qatar Airways flight connecting Melbourne to Doha. According to the man's account to Nine News, the woman, who was in the aisle of the plane, suddenly fainted after using the toilet. The crew tried to move the woman to business class, but due to her size, they were unable to transfer her to a more comfortable seat.
"They looked a little frustrated, then they looked at me and saw that there were seats available next to me. The paramedics and police came in and started taking the blankets off the lady. It was not a nice experience," the man said.
The couple were forced to live with the situation until the flight reached its stopover destination. Their report of discomfort and tension caused by the situation was intensified by the fact that they had to remain with the woman's body next to them for hours.
In response to the incident, a Qatar Airways spokesperson expressed regret for the tragedy and the potential inconvenience caused to passengers: "Firstly, our thoughts are with the family of the passenger who unfortunately passed away on board our flight. We apologise for any inconvenience or distress this incident may have caused and we are contacting passengers in accordance with our policies and procedures."
