Petrobras: new discovery in the Aram field raises the company's management's optimism

RIO - The new discovery in the Aram field by Petrobras , in the southern part of the Santos basin pre-salt, after the one announced in March, increased optimism regarding the asset within the company. In addition to a large volume of oil, the area announced this Friday, the 9th, presents "excellent" field quality and no contaminants.
"This is the second discovery in the same block, following the excellent result already achieved in another exploratory well at the beginning of the year, where we found excellent quality oil. We are investing heavily in the search for new reserves and the results are coming. This year, we have also announced discoveries in Brava and Búzios", stated Petrobras CEO Magda Chambriard in a statement.
Under Magda's management, Petrobras intensified the company's explorations.
According to the director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia Anjos, Aram is not a "new Tupi", but the new discovery shows that the field could have a much better performance, she told Estadão/Broadcast .
The Aram block was acquired in March 2020, in the 6th bidding round of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) , under the Production Sharing regime, with Pré-Sal Petróleo (PPSA) as manager, since it is under the Production Sharing regime. Petrobras is the operator of the block and holds an 80% stake, in partnership with the company CNPC (20%).
Well 3-BRSA-1396 D-SPS is located 248 kilometers from the city of Santos (SP), at a water depth of 1,952 meters. According to Petrobras, two more wells will be drilled and a formation test will be carried out as part of the Discovery Assessment Plan (PAD), which has a deadline in 2027.
Aram is one of the state-owned company's bets to increase its reserves, while it awaits the release of the environmental license to explore the Brazilian Equatorial Margin. Recently, at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), in Houston, Anjos stated that he is optimistic about receiving the license this year.
"The drilling of this well has already been completed, with the oil-bearing interval having been confirmed through electrical profiles, gas traces and fluid sampling. The consortium will begin laboratory analyses to characterize the conditions of the reservoirs and fluids found, which will allow the area's potential to be assessed," Petrobras explained in a statement this Friday, the 9th.
