Ruizinho de Penacova is the king of the Figueiró Carnival

Parades, music, costume competitions and lots of entertainment are some of the “ingredients” of the Figueiró dos Vinhos Carnival, which takes place from Friday to March 5th. A Carnival program that, according to the local authority, “offers a set of activities, where tradition and creativity go hand in hand, in a party that promises to involve the entire community”.
The Schools Carnival Parade kicks off the programme on Friday at 10:30 am, and the highlight of the festivities will take place on Sunday from 3 pm, with the Carnival Parade featuring Ruizinho de Penacova as the “King of 2025”. The parade will go through the main streets of the town, with floats, culminating in a musical show in Praça do Município, led by the “King”.
During the festive evenings, the program comes to life with Carnival balls in the Volunteer Firefighters' Hall, events that bring together the community and visitors. On March 1st, there will be a Group Mask Ball and Contest, and on the 3rd, there will be a ball day with an Individual Mask Contest.
The entertainment continues on “Shrove Tuesday”, starting at 3:00 pm, with a parade of floats. The festivities will culminate on the traditional “Ash Wednesday” night with the “Burial of Shrove Tuesday”.
