US to impose 25% tariffs on European goods soon, Trump says
US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that European products will soon be subject to 25% tariffs, which will target the automotive sector, among others, with details being released later.
"We have made the decision and we will announce it soon: it will be 25%," Trump assured at the end of the first meeting of his Administration at the White House, adding that the same percentage of tariffs will be applied to Canadian and Mexican products, starting April 2.
Trump had temporarily suspended tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico until March, while also announcing that he was studying a plan for tariff reciprocity with the European market.
