Man arrested in Lousada for domestic violence

The GNR arrested a man for domestic violence against his wife in Lousada, Penafiel, and, after being presented to the authorities, the detainee was held in preventive detention, the corporation announced this Monday.

In a statement, the GNR explains that the arrest, on September 17, occurred following an investigation that concluded that the 46-year-old man physically, verbally and psychologically assaulted the 37-year-old woman.

After appearing before the Penafiel Criminal Court, the detainee was placed under preventive detention as a coercive measure.

The GNR reminds that domestic violence is a public crime and emphasizes that reporting it is a collective responsibility.
