More than 200 industrial units reopened in Cabo Delgado

More than 200 industrial units and 400 commercial establishments in Cabo Delgado affected by rebel attacks since 2017 have now reopened in that Mozambican province, the local governor announced.
" 206 industrial units destroyed by extremism were recovered, out of the 295 affected ," said Valige Tauabo, during the opening of the 16th edition of the Cabo Delgado economic fair.
According to the governor, a total of 439 commercial establishments were also recovered, out of the 643 affected by the armed conflict, in addition to 79 factories, out of the 120 hit during the passage of tropical cyclone Chido, last December, in that province.
Cabo Delgado, located in the north of the country and rich in gas, has been facing an armed rebellion since 2017, which has caused thousands of deaths and a humanitarian crisis, with more than a million people displaced.
New extremist movements in northern Mozambique include Niassa, a neighboring province of Cabo Delgado, where, since their outbreak on April 29, they have caused the death of at least two forest rangers who were beheaded.
