More than 30 free shows liven up summer nights in Tavira

Praça da República is once again the center of Tavira's summer cultural program, with more than three dozen free shows scheduled for the evenings between July 12 and August 31, always at 10 p.m.
The initiative is part of the municipal program "Summer in Tavira" and includes concerts, dance, folklore, fado and jazz, bringing together local and national artists, as well as international proposals.
The festival kicks off on July 12th with the 33rd "Cidade de Tavira" Folklore Festival. On the 15th, the public will be able to attend the show "Em Casa d'Amália," a celebration of the gatherings hosted by fado singer Amália Rodrigues.
July's highlights also include the Romanian brass band Fanfare Ciorcalia (26th), the tribute to Phil Collins on St. James' Day (25th), the dance performance "Criatura" (17th), and the return of the Sociedade Orfeónica de Tavira with "Pérolas do Gilão" (27th). On Thursday, the 31st, the month closes with "Fado Tropical."
August begins with MXGPU (Moullinex & GPU Panic), an electronic music project performing in 360º format (day 1), followed by names such as Tiago Nacarato (day 2), Bateu Matou (day 9), Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve with the North American crooner Chuck Wansley (day 15) and Orquestra do Algarve (day 16).
On the 20th, Jorge Carrilho celebrates 50 years of his career with a special concert by Ensemble 17, which will feature Lena d'Água as a guest. Other musical events include Camaleão Azul (22nd), Fogo Fogo (23rd), Nameless (28th), Poetas Cantados (29th) and the Banda Musical de Tavira (30th).

According to the city council, this is a "program designed for everyone", which has already become a "symbol of the hot summer" in the city.
