Government presents measure for physical activity at work

The Government presents this Tuesday the initiatives that make up the Physical Activity in a Workplace Context measure, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), in a ceremony that marks the start of the European Week of Sport.
In a statement, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports recalls that Portugal has participated in this week for 10 years and says that the launch of the Physical Activity in the Workplace measure is “part of the Government's commitment to promoting health and well-being in the workplace”.
It also says that the European Week of Sport, an initiative coordinated by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), reflects the Government's “firm commitment” to consolidating public policies that promote physical activity as a universal right, fundamental to the well-being of the population.
The opening ceremony for this edition will take place in Campo Maior, at 2:30 pm, at the Nabeiro Group facilities.
In the note, the Government recalls that it has been developing "a comprehensive set of policies and programs" to promote sports practice and access to physical activity across all age groups and social groups, exemplified by increased investment in sports infrastructure, educational programs that promote sports literacy in schools, fostering the habit of physical activity from childhood, initiatives that aim at social inclusion through sport and the integration of physical activity as a cross-cutting component in public health policies, recognizing its role in preventing chronic diseases and improving quality of life.
