Man shot dead inside Porsche; what is known about the murder in Guarulhos

A 35-year-old man was shot dead inside a Porsche on Saturday morning, the 5th, in Guarulhos (SP), in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. According to the Military Police, the crime took place around noon on Rua Felizarda Firmino de Andrade.

According to witnesses, two suspects on motorcycles passed by the road and shot at the driver. The victim was carrying an empty holster attached to his waist. A cell phone, a watch and some rings were seized at the scene.

SAMU was called, but upon arriving at the scene, they confirmed the death.

The case was registered as a homicide at the 1st Police District of Guarulhos, which requested support from the Homicide and Personal Protection Sector (SHPP) of the municipality to assist in the investigations.

The identity of the victim has not yet been confirmed by the police, but according to G1 , which spoke to the family, it is Rodrigo Júnior da Silva Ponce. He was 35 years old and worked in transportation and earthmoving and had a CAC (collector, sports shooter and hunter certificate).

On Saturday morning, Rodrigo shared a video on his Instagram stories showing him leaving with his new car. The video was posted 8 hours ago.

So far, no one has been arrested.

In a statement, the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP) stated that images from security cameras are being analyzed to help identify the suspects.

Homicides and robberies in the state of São Paulo

Data released by the São Paulo Public Security Department indicate that from January to May this year, 1,029 intentional homicides were recorded in the state, 12 cases fewer than in the same period last year.

Robberies and homicides have also fallen. Up until May, there were 58 robberies followed by death, a drop compared to the 79 cases recorded in 2024. In contrast, thefts are on the rise and exceed 45,000 records per month.
