Disability support structure opened in Vila Verde

The Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor, in the municipality of Vila Verde, district of Braga, ready since August but which remained closed due to lack of connection to the electricity grid, has now opened its doors to receive 40 users with disabilities.
In a statement sent this Tuesday to the Lusa news agency, the Vale do Homem Social Center (CSVH) states that this infrastructure “is a new milestone in the inclusion and autonomy of people with disabilities”, marking a new stage in its mission in favor of people with disabilities.
On September 12, Lusa reported that this new social response had been ready to operate since August, but that it had still been waiting, since the beginning of this year, for E-Redes to install the connection branch to the electricity grid, which only happened in the last few days.
Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor received an investment of approximately 3.5 million euros, of which 1.2 million were financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), establishing itself as “an innovative project in the region”.
"It combines modernity, quality, and humanity in supporting people with disabilities. The space includes a teaching garden, a small animal common area, and a tree planting area, designed as tools for inclusion, learning, and well-being," explains the CSVH.
The new structure integrates an Activities and Training Center for Inclusion (CACI) and four Autonomization and Inclusion Residences (RAI), “forming an articulated ecosystem of social responses that promotes autonomy, the development of skills and the full integration of people with disabilities into the community”.
CACI will develop programs and initiatives aimed at strengthening personal, social and professional skills, promoting well-being, autonomy and full participation in the community.
In total, Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor has the capacity to accommodate 40 users and has a team of around 30 employees, including CSVH's central services and specialized technicians.
"Casa Mãe symbolizes care, closeness, and commitment. It's a space created to support, empower, and transform lives. This project reflects CSVH's mission: to be present, with humanity and purpose, where inclusion happens," says Jorge Pereira, president of the Vale do Homem Social Center, quoted in the statement.
Jorge Pereira emphasizes that “this new structure represents a decisive step for CSVH”, reinforcing its role as a “differentiating and interventionist institution in the area of social inclusion”.
“More than growing in size, we grew in purpose — and that purpose is to ensure that no one is left behind,” emphasizes the president of CSVH.
The new Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor building will also allow the central services of the CSVH universe to be concentrated in a single space, “promoting more cohesive, efficient and close management.”
"With Casa Mãe — Quinta do Senhor, the Vale do Homem Social Center reinforces its identity as a leading institution in social innovation and the inclusion of people with disabilities. More than a new space, this is a new way of interacting with the community — a structure that reflects CSVH's commitment to acting with dignity, quality, and humanity, promoting autonomy, participation, and a future for all," the statement continued.
